Dr Howard Freeman, clinical director of the NHS Partners Networks, has said that the independent sector is keen to help hospitals meet a “desperate” shortage of NHS capacity on elective surgeries this winter. This was in response for the latest performance figures from NHS England, which show that the number of people waiting more than a year for elective surgery has risen by almost 20% in the last 12 months.

The Institute for Public Policy Research looks at the future of social care funding
